Are you weary of giving out? Do you feel like you labor love into countless lives, and do acts of service over and over again, always pouring out, never getting back? Nights are short, days are long. There is always laundry, always cleaning, always meals, always work. Broken fingers and scraped knees, and hearts to bind up when hurtful words crush. At the last moments of the day you look back at all you’ve labored over, and feel exhausted. The thought of another day is difficult. Where will the strength come from? I felt such. One more day was overwhelming to think about, but what about one more week…one more month…one more year???
The words leaped off the page at me: “Cast thy bread upon the water; for thou shalt find it after many days” (Ecclesiastes 11:1). Dear believer, sometimes life gets heavy. But know this in assurance. Your way is not hid from the Lord, and He gives strength to the weary soul. Do not cling to your “bread,” keeping it selfishly for yourself. Do you not know, have you not seen, that the Almighty never grows tired, and that He will renew? Cast all that you have into the lives of those around you. Sacrifice, and be sacrificed. After many days, the return will come, the rewards will be paid in full, and you will find yourself rising on the wings of faith, fulfilled. You will be able to cry with David, “My cup runneth over!”
Give, and it shall be given unto you, in all the abundance of Heaven’s treasury.
