There’s something amazing about Him. He is the one to whom Job said, “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!” Words cannot describe His sovereignty. His will often looks like a mistaken blot at first glance in the eyes of mankind, but a step back reveals the marvelous loving kindness intertwined in his plans for you and me. Understanding His ways are beyond our capabilities, and His commandments are achievable only by the power of His Holy Spirit. Amidst all of His wonder and glory, mankind has to stand in awe of the Lord Jesus Christ, and His infinite worth. A friend put it this way:
“You see, we are weak, but He is strong. We are mortal, but He is immortal. Our lives’ span is short, but His is eternal. Our mind cannot grasp beyond what we learn throughout our life-time, and yet His mind is infinite and vast in knowledge – able to comprehend the deepest desires of our hearts and the deepest secrets of the universe! We are powerless to do anything beyond human strength, but He is all powerful, able to do the impossible! Many things are too hard for us, but nothing is impossible for Him! We cannot see past the immediate future, and yet He is outside of time, seeing everything, knowing
every bump and sudden turn in our lives. Nothing happens without Him knowing it. Nothing is beyond His control.”
Tonight is another bend in the road…another corner around which I cannot see. My mind wonders perhaps what God is doing in this moment, and what purpose He has planned in the disappointment I feel. Yet in my heart tonight rings one phrase that I will choose to believe. At the end of the day, when the worries have piled up, and the disappointment lingers, my God is still God, and my God is still good. I will praise Him.
Believe He is Good.
