“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” I Peter 3:9
Have you come?
If not, then this page is especially for you. It is our desire that through this blog, many might come to know more fully the love of God – perhaps even for the first time. We want to invite you, as believers who are preparing the way for His coming, to join in the race of life towards the ultimate goal – eternal life in Christ Jesus. This race is by grace through faith, and not of works, lest any man should boast. If you are asking “How?”, we want to offer you lasting answers – Jesus’ answers:
1. Recognize that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
Jesus said “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God.” “Poor” literally means “Spiritually destitute.” Do you see your spiritual destitution, and your great need for a Savior – someone who can stand in the gap and cover you with righteousness that is not your own? If so, the kingdom of God is offered to YOU!
2. Salvation is obtained through grace, not works
(I Timothy 1:9)
In and of yourself, you can do nothing. This is why God gives grace – the desire and power to do his will. Without grace, you cannot be saved, because you won’t even have the desire! In our flesh dwelleth NO good thing - not even the desire to humble ourselves and be saved from our own inadequacy! Good works are a by-product of faith, but they cannot substitute for faith. This is part of being poor in spirit – recognizing you have nothing to offer that will get you to heaven. Instead, you must COMPLETELY rely in the grace and mercy of God.
3. You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that Salvation is possible because of His Sacrifice!
(John 3:16, I John 5:1)
Jesus told his disciples that whoever rejected him was also rejecting the Father. And whoever rejects Jesus is rejecting Salvation, because Salvation came into the world because of Jesus and His sacrifice alone! Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that in His death on the cross, your sinful nature was nailed to that cross, and you are free to live in the Spirit?
4. Ask Jesus to be Lord of your life. He is waiting, and when you ask, He will give you His holy Spirit who will teach you in all truth. (John 1:12, Galatians 4:6)
Jesus said to come to Him as a little child. This is no fancy dialog, no perfectly worded prayer. It is the cry of a destitute person who realizes their need for a Heavenly Father to cleanse them, cover them, and teach them. Confess your sin to Him, tell Him you desire Him, yield your life to His ownership, and ask Him to give you His Holy Spirit. He stands waiting at the door – He will come in when you answer!
5. Believe that you now hold the key of eternal life! This gift of salvation cannot be taken from you. If you have truly recieved the Lord Jesus, you are His for eternity! This means that victory is guaranteed for you! You may lose a battle, but the war is already won!
Because Jesus is the Lord of your life and your Heavenly Father, He will chasten you in love as a Father corrects a son, when you fall into sin. This chastening is a gentle mercy, prodding you back to the race of life.
As you grow in your walk with the Lord, you will find that you now desire to know more of God, to get in the Word and that you have a reason to live! It is our hope and prayer that the materials you read here on this blog will both encourage and teach you as you pursue a love relationship with Jesus Christ!
